Clarity

Reports you actually use.

Most businesses this size are not short of numbers. They are short of someone reading them commercially and saying what to do about it. Clarity gives you one monthly review at finance-director level, a live dashboard you can open any day of the week, and a short list of things worth acting on. Nothing to install. Nothing to migrate. We work in the systems you already have.

Is this the right level?

This is for you if

Turnover is roughly £250k to £1m.
You want a senior second opinion once a month, not a finance department.
You have no finance person in-house, and no case for one yet.
You are setting prices, hiring and committing spend on instinct and the bank balance.
Your bookkeeping is broadly in order, but nobody is looking at it for margin, pricing or cash.
You get financial reports every month and they do not change a single decision you make.

This is not for you if

Your business changes shape week to week and one monthly review will not keep pace.
You want a report to file rather than a decision to make. We would be a poor use of £650.
You need someone accountable in the room with your bank, your investors or your board. That is Strategic.
You want somebody to do the bookkeeping, run the VAT and process payroll. That is Growth.
Your books are months behind. That is a clean-up first, and we will tell you so on the call.

What you get

What arrives every period, without you asking

  • A written finance review. Two pages. What the month showed, what it means, what we would do next.
  • A cash position outlook. Where cash lands over the coming weeks, with the assumptions written down so you can argue with them.
  • A profitability review. Which clients, products or jobs are carrying the business, and which are quietly funded by the rest.
  • A practical action list. Three to five items, each with an owner and a deadline. We carry the open items forward until they close.
  • One call. 45 minutes to work through the review, not to have it read out to you.
  • A named contact. One person who knows your business, not a ticket queue.
  • A Quarterly review call. 60 minutes with your finance lead, working through decisions.

    The change you should expect

The first month gives you a clean baseline, and most owners find at least one number in it they did not expect: usually a margin thinner than assumed, or a client that costs more to serve than it pays. By the third month you know your real gross margin by client or job type, which changes the tone of every pricing conversation you have after it. The first action list has closed, and the monthly review has stopped being a novelty and become the thing you plan around.

From around six months the difference is in how decisions get made. You are choosing which work to take, which to reprice and which to stop, with evidence rather than instinct behind each one, and cash surprises become rare because you saw them forming weeks earlier. By the end of the first year you have twelve months of comparable data and a clear view of whether this is still the right level. Most Clarity clients either stay here happily or move up, because the finance work has outgrown one review a month.

    The questions we get asked

First management pack in month two. Product and service line analysis within two months.

Reporting fails when it is built on data nobody trusts and nobody explains. Which is why the ledger gets fixed first, and why every month has a conversation attached rather than a link to a report.

For a lot of businesses, yes. If you find yourself asking which jobs or clients are profitable, that is the point where Growth starts to earn its fee.

Figures you can act on inside two weeks of month end, rather than six weeks later, and a written note each month of anything that looks wrong.

You can, and some owners do it well. The question is whether you are the cheapest person in the business to be doing it, and whether it actually gets done in a month where sales are busy.

A bookkeeper records transactions. This includes the review layer on top: someone checking whether the coding is right, whether the VAT treatment holds, and telling you what the figures mean. If you already have a bookkeeper you trust, that is a good thing, and this sits above them rather than replacing them.

Bring one decision you are stuck on.

Thirty minutes. We will look at your last three months and tell you honestly whether Clarity is the right level for you, a higher one is, or you do not need us at all.
